There is no fee to register for this conference. Please note: this year’s conference will NOT be available for viewing online.
There is a recognized need to close the gap between research evidence and clinical and public health practice and policy. How is this best accomplished? Dissemination and implementation research in health seeks to answer this question, and is gaining momentum as a field of scientific inquiry. The goal of the annual NIH Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation is to facilitate growth in the research base by providing a forum for communicating and networking about the science of dissemination and implementation.
Researchers, evaluators and implementers who are interested in identifying opportunities and strategies for overcoming obstacles for dissemination and implementation research and evaluation are encouraged to attend this meeting. The goal is to engage in dialog, exchange ideas, explore contemporary topics and challenge one another to identify and test research approaches that will advance dissemination and implementation science.
The conference will be held on March 19-20, 2012 at the Bethesda North Marriott, Maryland, conveniently located on Washington, D.C.’s Metrorail Red Line (White Flint stop).
Applicants are encouraged to submit abstracts for oral presentations/panels and posters. Descriptions of each type of session, and instructions for abstract submission, are described in the Call for Proposals section.

Display
As part of the March 19-20, 2012 annual NIH Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation (D & I) Research, we again invite you to display materials and provide information on training programs and resources in D and I. If interested, and for further information about this opportunity, please contact Cynthia Vinson via email (cvinson@mail.nih.gov) no later than March 2, 2012 for details and restrictions. Note that space is limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, assuming the materials to be displayed meet requirements (e.g., this is NOT for general training or degree programs, or commercial advertising, medical devices or drugs).
Directory
In addition to the opportunity to reserve a display table, we also invite you to submit information regarding implementation science training programs for inclusion in a training program directory to be posted on the conference website and distributed at the conference in a printed list. For more information and instructions for submitting your program, please contact the VA Center for Implementation Practice and Research Support via email (ciprs@va.gov). |

A half-day technical assistance workshop will be held in the afternoon of Tuesday, March 20th following the conclusion of the main conference.
The workshop is intended for researchers who are interested in submitting an application under current funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), with an emphasis on small grants (R03s) and exploratory/developmental grants (R21s). See: “Dissemination and Implementation Research in Health,” PAR-10-039 and PAR-10-040. Related FOAs will be discussed at the workshop. Preference will be given to those investigators who have not previously been awarded an NIH D&I grant.
Participants interested in the technical assistance workshop should submit a one page abstract including the following:
- Key question to be answered by the research
- Summary of approach and methods
- Any questions about advancing the topic further
Investigators will receive content-specific feedback through written review comments and via group discussion. Investigators interested in individual, one-on-one sessions with NIH staff are encouraged to arrange them prior to arriving at the conference as individual sessions will not be a formal part of the program.
Submit your one page abstract as a Word document to aburke@thehillgroup.com by January 20, 2012. In the subject line of the email, please indicate the Technical Assistance Workshop Submission. |
