  • Morning plenary sessions include: Presentations from the Director’s three Health Initiatives and the Special Diabetes Program for Indians; Tribal Leader’s Panel on Health
  • Afternoon “Learning Labs” focusing on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; Chronic Care Initiative & Special Diabetes Program for Indians; Behavioral Health; and Trauma Care & Emergency Medical Services
  • Evening poster session and reception with musical entertainment by Mary Youngblood


DAY TWO THEME : Integration
Wednesday, July 8, 2009: 8:00 am to 6:30 pm

  • “Just Move it” Walk, optional activity at 6:30 am
  • Morning plenary session with Donald Berwick, CEO , Institute for Healthcare Improvement; H. Sally Smith, Alaska Area Tribal Leader; and Dr. Patrick Rock, Indian Health Board of Minneapolis
  • Up to 24 concurrent sessions to choose from including: Self Management Support; Leadership; Traditional Medicine; Promoting Healthy Families; and Telehealth
  • Evening theatrical event featuring James and Ernie Comedy Duo


DAY THREE THEME: Best & Promising Practices
Thursday, July 9, 2009: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

  • Morning plenary session on Information Sharing
  • Morning concurrent sessions focusing on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; Chronic Care Initiative & Special Diabetes Program for Indians; Behavioral Health; Evidence-based Clinical Medicine; and Urban and Tribal Health
  • Awards luncheon with motivational speaker
  • Afternoon plenary session on “The Future of the Indian Health System” with Director of the Indian Health Service Yvette Roubideaux, MD and Tribal Leaders Panel
  • Closing ceremony including door prizes
