Accreditation

The Indian Health Service (IHS) Clinical Support Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

The IHS Clinical Support Center designates this continuing medical education for up to 16.50 hours of Category 1 credit toward the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit he or she actually spent in the educational activity.

This Category 1 credit is accepted by the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American College of Nurse Midwives.

The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity is designated 16.50 contact hours for nurses.

The Indian Health Service (IHS) Nutrition and Dietetics Training Program (NDTP) is accredited by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to sponsor continuing professional education for Registered Dietitians. This activity has been awarded 16 CEUs. The IHS NDTP number is NU006. Each attendee should only count the number of hours for each activity attended,

To satisfy the requirement for renewal of certification by continuing education for the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the NCBDE List of Approved Providers or be accredited bodies listed on the NCBDE list of approved providers (www.ncbde.org). The NDTP is an Accredited Provider recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). CDR is on the NCBDE List of Approved Providers.
