Portfolio Analysis Workshop
February 6, 2012
Natcher Conference Center (Building 45)
NIH Campus, Bethesda, MD

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Portfolio Analysis (OPA) in the Division of Program Coordination, Planning and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI) is sponsoring a Portfolio Analysis Workshop on February 6, 2012 in the main auditorium of the Natcher Conference Center.

The Workshop is open to all NIH Program, Review, and Planning and Evaluation Staff, and we invite all NIH extramural staff to join us. Registration for the Portfolio Analysis Workshop is free and is required (see the link below).

The Workshop has been approved for ESA training credit; short talks, panel discussions, and demos will highlight the utility and limitations of portfolio analysis approaches and computational tools.

The primary goal of the workshop is to establish trans-NIH priorities in improving the effectiveness of portfolio analysis as a way to inform decision-making. Perceived needs in portfolio analysis at NIH will be addressed in the Workshop, including but not limited to the following topics:

  • Managing portfolios in fiscally challenging times
  • Uses and limitations of portfolio analysis
  • Identification of emerging areas
  • Overlap in NIH portfolios
  • Measuring impact
  • New portfolio analysis tools

The outcomes of this Workshop will inform the agenda for a Portfolio Analysis Symposium, scheduled for July 23-24, 2012, also in the Natcher Conference Center.

Registration for the Portfolio Analysis Workshop is free and is required. To register for the Portfolio Analysis Workshop on February 6, please click here.
